Looking for a fast, simple way to lose your belly fat? Forget about fad diets and fat-burning pills. The best way to get rid of ugly stomach fat quickly is to “optimize” your diet for fat loss while simultaneously increasing the amount of exercise you do. Sound complicated? It’s really not. Follow the proven steps below and you’ll start to burn off that stubborn abdominal fat right away…
1. Throw out all the low-fat, high-sugar foods in your kitchen.
Getting rid of all the tempting and fattening “low fat”/high-sugar food in your house can have a big affect on how quickly you reduce your belly fat levels. This includes most candies, sodas, snack foods and even many of the so-called “diet” foods that are low in fat but high in sugar, carbohydrates, artificial sweeteners, synthetic chemicals and other things you don’t want going into your body.
2. Cut out all the trans-fatty acids from your diet.
Trans-fats are in thousands of different kinds of foods these days. Unfortunately these dangerous man-made fats have been shown to increase body fat levels — especially in the abdominal area — and also cause all kinds of health problems. Avoid pretty much all fast food meals, fried foods from grocery stores and restaurants, and most packaged foods. Trans-fats can be sneaky so you must learn to read nutritional labels. If you see the words “partially-hydrogenated” anywhere in the ingredients put it down or throw it out.
3. Watch your starches.
When it comes to losing belly fat, controlling your intake of starchy carbs is a key. Try to limit your starches (e.g. breads, cereals, pastas, potatoes, rice, etc.) to 1-2 servings per day. Also, try to eat starchy carbohydrates earlier in the day so your body has time to burn them off. Always choose 100% whole-grain versions of foods as well as carbs that are lower on the glycemic index scale.
4. Eat more nuts and seeds.
If you want a very satisfying snack that’s packed with protein, healthy fat, vitamins, minerals, and fiber it’s tough to beat nuts and seeds. Just a handful can kill your appetite immediately and boost your energy for hours. The best choices are raw nuts and seeds but roasted is OK if you prefer the flavor. Just watch out for the high-sodium versions and also avoid anything with added sugars or artificial flavorings.
