Five Weight Loss Solutions
Problem #1: You hate to exercise.
Solution: Walk. You really can’t think of walking like it’s exercise. You’ve been walking your entire life. You need to walk to get from point A to point B. The problem is you don’t walk enough! Walking, is probably the best exercise for you. It stimulates every cell in your body, burns fat, conditions the heart, increases bone density, lowers blood pressure, reduces stress, it’s meditative, improves mood & self-esteem, increases muscle strength & endurance, etc.
I could go on and on. If you don’t live in an area that is appropriate for walking (no sidewalks, etc.) then drive to an area that is more pleasing. Try to surround yourself with beauty to enjoy the walk even more. (Example: a park, a trail, by the water ) I have done this on many occasions because I like variety. Try to get out every day for a minimum of 30 minutes and then gradually increase this time. It’s very important to have good walking shoes that are comfortable and supportive.
Problem #2: You refuse to give up certain foods.
Solution: You don’t have to. However, you do need to change a few things in order to keep eating them.
1) You need to incorporate more wholesome, raw foods into your diet, in place of some of the bad foods. (The word ‘diet’ by the way, refers to the food you take in on a daily basis). Consume more raw fruits and vegetables. They are full of nutrients and fibre, will fill you up faster and longer, and they increase your immune system.
2) You need to eat in smaller portions, and eat more frequently. The majority of people in North America, eat portions that are enough for two people. You need to cut your portions in half and eat approximately five meals a day.
3) I know many bodybuilders who eat ‘clean’ for six days, and then have one ‘cheat’ day.
It’s like a reward: You eat great for six, then celebrate for one. (in moderation!) If this isn’t an option for you, try to keep 90% of your daily food intake clean, and try to eat before 8:00 pm.
If you do get a craving for sweets, try a small piece of fresh fruit, or a square or two of dark chocolate. Variety keeps the boredom away.
Problem #3: You always feel hungry.
Solution: Drink more water. It’s a fact that quite often when you feel hungry, you are actually thirsty, whether you feel thirsty or not. Most of us are dehydrated and don’t even know it. Your body needs water before you actually feel the symptoms of thirst. Drinking frequently throughout the day, from morning to night, will not only keep you feeling fuller, but your skin, hair, breath, and every other part of your body will thank you.
Problem #4: You feel hungry at night.
Solution: Do I know about this! A large percentage of my life was spent eating more at night, right up until the time I went to bed. Most of us go all morning or even day without eating, and then consume everything later on. To reverse this, you need to change your eating habits. It’ll take some time getting use to, but it will be well worth it. The thought of food first thing in the morning use to make me feel nauceous. I started first with something small, and eventually worked my way up to an actual meal. You need to incorporate the ‘five-meals-a-day’ schedule into your daily plan. An example would be: 8:00 am, 11:00 am, 2:00 pm, 5:00 pm, and 8:00 pm. If you do this, I quarantee you will not feel hungry. If you absolutely need something past this time, it’s got to be small and healthy.
Problem #5: You hate the whole concept of dieting.
Solution: You need to change the way you think!
This is NOT a diet. It IS a type of lifestyle. This is the way we were meant to eat in order to stay healthy and live longer. The majority of the population think they eat well, when really they have horrible diets. They are just so use to eating this way, the way they always have, that they see nothing wrong with it.
Don’t tell people you are ‘dieting’. You are simply eating to increase your health and longevity.
You will not only look better and feel better following these solutions, but you will also be an inspiration to all those around you.
