Running and Weight Loss - How to Lose Weight By Not Running
People often equate weight loss with running. Intense exercise, like extended running, may actually create a stronger craving for carbohydrates, promote premature aging, and possibly cause mild depression. There are easier solutions for weight loss than running.
Many exercise routines, like running to lose weight , require too much metabolic activity. Intense exercises can actually interfere with your brain’s ability to create balanced brain chemistry. With too intense exercise, you may look good, but your overall health will suffer, not to mention your relationships.
If you are overweight, it is better to avoid intense exercise until you get back to your healthy weight. Obese women need to begin with light exercise, then more moderate exercises and always avoid intense exercise at the start of any weight loss program . Good light to moderate exercises include walking, biking and aqua aerobics.
If you were born with a more muscular body, then you will have a greater need for intense exercise. If intense workouts are fun, you enjoy doing them, and they’re easy for you, then they are generally good for you. If your routines are much longer than 40 minutes, then you may be accelerating the aging process. Additionally, if you’re overtraining your body with aerobic exercise, you may unknowingly create a state that can lead to feelings of depression.
Contrary to popular belief, intense running to lose weight actually encourages fat-burning mitochondrial cells in women to burn carbohydrates — not fats. Research studies reveal that women who do regular, moderately intense exercise burn more fat than they would with more intense exercise programs. The key is intensity and regularity. Doing 30 minutes of moderate exercise 5 times a week supports fat burning more than than 60 minutes of intense running 2 times a week.
Author John Gray in his book, The Mars and Venus Diet and Exercise Solution, says that in order to diet and exercise properly, we need certain chemicals in our brain to be at our optimal level. He says once that happens, everything else will fall into place and you will be able to stop food cravings, maintain your ideal weight, have lots of energy and get along with your partner.
In his book he recommends drinking a glass of enriched lemon water for cleansing before exercise, then a bouncing or moderate exercise routine daily, followed up with a well-balanced energy shake for breakfast.
A daily glass of enriched lemon water removes the toxins from our bodies allowing improved liver function. A gentle, whole body bouncing routine stimulates the lymphatic system to help purify and cleanse the body. If you skip breakfast you actually turn down the volume on your metabolism and inhibiting the burning of fat. Have a well-balanced breakfast or energy shake and you will find your moods and energy will be higher throughout the day.
