How Do You Get Rid Of Cellulite

Posted by mike

Cellulite is a word used to describe fatty deposits just beneath the skin, especially on the thighs, hips and buttocks. It’s easy to recognize because it has one defining feature - a dimpled, lumpy or grainy appearance to the skin surface. And not to mention it’s also unsightly.

But there’s some misconception about whether cellulite is different than regular fat. Well, let me put this concept to rest for good.

Research has discovered cellulite is simply regular fat just under the skin with a dimpled appearance and not, like some industry people would have you believe, a different type of fat. So the fat cells aren’t any different from other fat cells. Oh, and by the way, fat just below the surface of the skin is called subcutaneous fat.

Two factors are responsible for causing cellulite: TOO MUCH FAT AND NOT ENOUGH MUSCLE. Pretty simple, huh! Studies show the average American women loses five pounds of muscle, and gains fifteen pounds of fat every decade of their adult life.

The muscle loss results from the lack of physical activity providing some type of resistance. Like moving giant boulders or lifting a volkswagon off the ground. Only kidding!

Aerobic activities promote cardiovascular fitness, but they don’t do anything to maintain your muscle mass. In other words, walking and jogging are great for your heart and lungs, but they break down muscle tissue. And even worse, the loss of muscle mass lowers your metabolism.

Cellulite looks dimpled because women have a layer of connective tissue resembling a honeycomb in pattern or structure just under the skin separating fat cells into compartments. In men, the same layer of connective tissue is horizontal in pattern.
