Multiple Benefits of Calorie Restriction

Alzheimer’s Disease afflicts about 4.5 million Americans and that number has doubled in only 27 years. The Mount Sinai study shows that caloric intake restriction prevents the plaque build-up in the brain caused by beta-amyloid peptides which are present at abnormally higher levels in people with Alzheimer’s Disease. The Mount Sinai School of Medicine study’s results demonstrate that these dangerously elevated levels of beta-amyloid peptides in the brain can be reduced by subjecting the body to caloric restriction. High caloric intake, on the other hand, increases levels of these beta-amyloid peptides.
