How Women Can Balance Their Hormones To Lose Belly Fat
Q. How to get my body back into the right hormonally balanced state to start burning fat again…what nutrition is best when your body has become intolerant to most starchy carbs, and how much exercise is enough or too much.
A. This is a 3 part question and not uncommon for women to ask.
Let me first address how to get your body back so that your hormones are balanced. Many women find either menopause or after having kids that this is the case and become very discouraged. Women’s bodies are different than men’s so we have to train them differently to produce the fat burning results.
First, in order to balance our hormones we must have a workout that is designed specifically for that purpose.
The next part of the question is what nutrition is best when your body has become intolerant to most starchy carbs? Women’s bodies will change with carbohydrate metabolism and in my research of working with actual clients I have found that the old school methods for setting up the starchy carbs just don’t cut it.
I do want to say that your body is not carb intolerant. There can be many reasons why your body is not losing fat when you eat carbs. Here are some of the reasons that may be your situation:
1. You have been on an Atkins style diet, lost weight then went back to your normal eating habits in which you gain more body fat back (basically what you did, is that you dieted severely slowing down your carbohydrate metabolism, which once you introduce them back into your program you gain fat immediately)
2. Eating low calories and excessive cardio like steady state also has this effect to making your metabolism slower and fatter.
3. Not working out in an efficient way so that your body is burning fat (or what I call doing a fat burning workout)
4. Eating the wrong types of carbs, excessive amounts, and timing. The wrong types would be foods like white bread and timing of your carbs is important for fat loss. If you are eating them when you are not working out, then your body won’t be very efficient in burning them.
These are just a few scenarios but you get the picture. You can repair your metabolism if this has happened to you, but you need to be patient. I have seen so many women struggle with this over the years and they have tried everything…finally they realize they need the right solution to correct this otherwise they will always be stuck. Believe me it’s not that your carb intolerant it’s just that you need to reset your body and hormones so that you can burn fat more efficiently.
