To lose 50 pounds is never an easy thing to do. But people have done it before you, so it’s entirely within your power. I say this only to be straight with you: it’s not going to be easy for you, but you can succeed if you set your mind to it. I can only suggest a way in which you can do it.

To lose 50 pounds fast, you need a diet which will provide a fast and continuous weight loss.   1. To lose 50 lbs is not an easy task. And, there is no “fast” way of losing that weight while maintaining proper health. I wouldn’t recommend following anything that claims to lost 50 pounds fast.

  2. If you eat the correct foods it doesn’t matter what your calorie intake is, you will lose weight faster than any diet pill out there can.
    It’s amazing what one can achieve with the proper education on foods and technology.

  6. I would be very cautious of any diet that says you can lose more than 2lb a week. This requires you to burn morn that 1000 calories a day more than you eat. Aside from being extremely difficult to do this often is very unhealthy and most of the weight loss in in fluid.

    You just need to clarify with yourself that how fast is fast… 1 month, 3 months or 1 Year!

    Next you need to put in consistent effort!

  18. 50 lb’s weight loss is a monster ambition. Most people won;t be able to manage that. I think fatter people can lose a lot more than thinner people, so it depends on your physique.

    Loosing weight isnt easy, yes as everyone has stated it’s hard work and determination. but, it’s also having the knowledge of what you can or can not eat! The stragety isn’t a difficult one to find out! We all know how to eat healthy, we all know what to avoid in our daily intake. Eat 5-6 meals a day…but make them SMALL.. avoid sugars and salts. (fruits have natural sugar in them allowing your body to absorb plently) Don’t eat more then one banana a day, Stay away from too much bread, potatoes, ect.. but in the end you can eat what you will as long as you do it in small porpotions and watch that you don’t add any extra salt or sugars in your foods.. P.s Dont be afraid to dress it up… Spices HELP ….. and dr.Allen is right.. counting callories is not neccesary when your on a diet.. it’s strides.. P.S even a 20 minute walk to start each day wont hurt.. then bump it up as you feel compfortable. Being overweight is not fun, but I managed to loose 90 pounds and now weigh exactly what i should be following what i just said. It took 8 months but, I did it.. You will feel great.. p.s I go to the gym only during winter months (if you live in those climates) and only do it 3-4 times a week for over an hour each.. Rest of the week I just do regular day to day activities.. Key::: Don’t allow yourself to sit infront of the tv or computer more then is neccesary.. With that said.. Toodles.   23. You have to reduce your calories and/or exercise to lose weight. I second that, you need to eat healthy and eat many “small” meals throughout the day. I reduce calories by 500 and it works great. I suggest eat more fruit and vegtables, only whole grain breads and cereals. Eat lean meats and drinks lots of water.

    The Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet that you are talking about has actually been downloaded by a friend of mine and she was very happy with the results! I can remember she said that it was very easy to follow because you choose the food!

    And if you choose the food and eat 4 times a day to lose weight, I don’t think there will be a person that is going to be unhappy about it!

  28. Hi, I started college and just after two months I lost 40 lbs…. The secret I stopped drinking soda pop, I was drinking 2+ 32oz pops a day and now I drink Roughly 4 bottles of water a day, Water is always free on campus :) And i walk a lot more, That the secret, Switch from pop to lots of water and walk a lot instead of taking elevators and shuttle buses. went from 228 to now roughly 188 and am still slowly loosing 1lb at a time. I wasn’t even trying to loose weight and still am not I eat what i want also, but i usually prefer veggies.

    I just recently got my hands of the “South Beach Diet” book. It is by no means a diet, yet a way of looking at an enjoyable, healthy, eating plan that you could follow for life. I have looked for years for something that didn’t seem “too good to be true.” Yet didn’t make me think about food alllllll day long. It allows you to even have that bowl of ice cream every night if you can’t imagine giving it up. It would cost between US$15-20 for the explanation and basics. By the way, I lost about 10lbs in the first three weeks. I’m in the second phase now, and I’m losing 2-3 lbs a week. (in the book it does not tell you excersise is necessary, but I incorporated more physical activity 5 days a week. Even if it’s just a 30 minute walk, or twenty minutes of a jumping jack, sit up, push up cycle.)

  33. Losing 50 pounds of weight fast for any reason is not a healthy, sensible thing to do. Weight loss begins with a change of thinking and if anyone is even considering losing 50 pounds fast, they are really not thinking of the long term damaging effects to their health.

    That’s not to say that weight loss programs don’t work, they do, when all the key factors such as eating balanced meals and having a proper exercise routine to follow are in place.

    “Fast” in relation to weight loss is along the same lines as “Get Rich Fast”… their is no fast! It requires determination, and a sensible plan in both these situations to be successful.

I know that Life happns, and you can not stay happy eating a chicken breast and salad four times a day. But the fact of the matter is that you have to fuel your body if you want to ignite your metabolism and burn the fat off.

  37. Seems like too drastic of weight loss to me. Better to lose 50 lbs a little slower to give your body time to adjust. The best weight loss plans come with the support and motivation to stick with it. Or challenge others!

    Actually, the weight loss 4 idiots DOES work, and it is healthy and it is the foods you choose to eat..eat until satisfied, not full from getting up..drink the water, some walking involved and presto chango, you DO lose weight. As a matter of fact, the second day on the diet you can feel/see your stomach shrinking..don’t know how else to word it, but it works right away! I need to get back on it, I used it for my wedding in 2005. Now I still have my baby weight still on from my second child and want to lose 35-40lbs my prepreggars weight…Try it…Just like the old saying “Don’t knock it, til you try it!”

  40. Not true at all about it coming back faster, not true at all…You can say that Only if you went through the entire and it happened to you, but only if you tried it. I have and I ‘Know’ it works and in the long run gets you to change your eating habits…that is what it is all about in the end…..O and btw tell that last comment to the people on “The Biggest Loser”

  41. I know that we all want fast results, but losing so much weight needs to be inline with learning how to live healthier. What’s the point of becoming slimmer and putting lots of effort into it to then in few weeks gain everything (and more) back.

    We need to learn to eat healthy and exercise regularly. That’s why I like Dukan diet. it’s covers all steps: fast weight loss at the start to give you motivation, then slowly losing more and adjusting your mind on healthy eating. I lost 7kg already and I have lots energy to continue losing more. Worth trying.

  52. I agree that the slower the weight comes off the longer it will stay off. I have been using Herbalife products and I been losing 2-3 pounds a week. I have also made some life style changes that include exercise every other day and more fruits and vegetables in my diet. It seems to be working. I think diet and exercise is the key to weight loss success.
