Although i think weight loss surgery, is a good thing, like diet pills, i don’t feel that its a long term solution. I’ve heard and read about numerous people that have had surgery and they simply put the weight back on; not to mention the pain and suffering of having to phyically go through surgery!!!
WLS is not the end all be all of weight loss techniques.
Over half gain their weight back within 5 years. Plus they have a lifetime of nutritional deficits to contend with.
No one should have to live like that. I know first hand. I had WLS 4 years ago and despite being the model of success by my surgeons standards—-I am now diagnosed with severe malnutrition.
Plus I am facing having to have another surgery because of complications.
All you hear are the good things about WLS, never the bad.
All because of our societies focus on being thin. When actually being overweight is actually healthier.
Both posts above mine are correct in so much that Weight Loss Surgery is not a “cure all.” Nothing is. But I can attest that it has been a cure for many, many more than not. I’m one of three American Directors of America’s Medical Solutions Pvt. Ltd., (www.americasmedicalsolutions.com) where we have doctors and hospitals of the highest standards for these procedures at unbelievable prices. The best, actually, in the world. We have the successes that these two posts would belie. Once the procedure is done there are rules that have to be obeyed. Putting the weight back on is not the cause of the surgery, but the fault of the patient, just like malnutrician is the fault of the diet.
Both cases, seeming failures are only so when they fail to follow the physician’s instructions. I pity them, but glory in the patients we know who have changed their lives!
