How to Lose One Pound of Fat Each Week
I talk to many patients who need to lose weight . Sometimes they have lost weight and I ask them what they are doing to accomplish it. Often they tell me they are eating more healthy. What this means is they have eliminated certain food groups and cut their calories to the bone and beyond.
I always try to discuss important issues for a moment on each visit.
I find that most do not know how many calories they should be eating.
They do not have a written plan.
They define healthy eating in various ways but rarely are these ways actually healthy.
Eating in a more healthy manner means getting all the nutrients your body needs in the right amounts and proportions. Having a healthy life style means incorporating exercise, good eating habits and intentionally writing a plan that is adapted to your circumstances. The plan is your guide to better health. Good Diet and Weight Control are a couple of parts of this.
How can you lose weight without a diet? To me the word diet in our culture means something you do with eating that is not satisfactory or desired but something you are willing to do to lose weight. This is the cultural idea of Look Better Naked.
We both know if you are going to live you are going to eat. You are bombarded with messages trying to influence this habit. The message is - if you spend your money here, you will save money, be sexy, be popular, have friends, a better job and look better naked.
This is incorrect and these messages are not in your best interest. You need an understanding of basic nutrition, the portion sizes best for you and a basic plan to stay healthy and improve as needed.
There is plenty of information available, and much of it is free. The problem is getting the information, collating it to your benefit, and applying it in your life. This is where coaching, group support and intensive learning come into play.
You lose weight without a diet when you understand what to do, have someone to help you plan, and then try your plan with the opportunity for coaching to improve it.
