What is the Lemonade Diet?

The “lemonade diet” is a type of cleansing remedy in which you consume a special drink made from fresh lemon juice, cayenne pepper and agave syrup or honey. It is more commonly known as “The Master Cleanse.”

There are several ways to use the lemonade diet. The most extreme is to fast exclusively on the lemon drink for a period of 10 to 30 days. The most gentle way is to drink 8 oz of the mixture upon waking up for a period of 1-2 months. For most people it is important to prepare the body before attempting a complete fast on the lemonade diet. This is because in fasting, the body can remove toxins at a rate that is too fast for the liver to handle. If the liver can’t process all of the toxins, some of them can make their way back into the blood stream and can cause uncomfortable detox symptoms like headache, nausea, low energy and skin eruptions.

Does the lemonade diet cleanse the colon?

In my experience fasting on the lemon drink for 5-10 days does promote some colon cleansing. However, it does not help the body release layers of mucoid plaque that are built up in the intestine.

I know this from personal experience. Once, I completed a thorough herbal colon cleanse after 10 days on the lemonade diet. I was amazed at the amount of plaque that came out of my body out once I began to take the herbs.

For that reason, I’d say that the lemonade diet is a complementary but not complete way to cleanse the colon.

1.) Organic Lemon Juice

This has to be fresh lemon juice and it has some amazing detox properties that will really get your body’s detox engine going strong. Lemon Juice has always been a good detox agent and as a plus point, it also tastes nice when mixed into the lemonade recipe. This is a definite bonus point.

2.) Organic Grade B Maple Syrup

This is very good for you generally and also has the effect of making the lemonade drink much sweeter (as just lemon juice would be too bitter), so this really makes it taste good and will definitely help you to keep drinking it and even look forward to it. 3.) Cayenne Pepper

An interesting choice that seems to surprise a lot of people when they hear that the lemonade diet has pepper in it. Many followers of the lemonade diet report losing 1-2 pounds a day during the first 3-10 days of the diet. Then you can expect to lose about 2-4 pounds a week.

As far as health is concerned the lemonade diet can be very restrictive so your body may not get all the nutrients it needs while on the lemonade diet I recommend using a complete one a day vitamin to make sure your getting all the nutrients your body needs when on a detox diet. And as always consult your doctor before you start the lemonade diet or any other diet.

As I mentioned earlier following a detox diet can result in a rapid loss of weight a lot of this is junk and toxins that have been building up in your body for years that left alone can cause your health to deteriorate. Some other benefits of the lemonade diet are increase in energy, clearer skin, breaking a sugar dependency many people say that going on a detox diet was like discovering the fountain of youth. If you have trouble sticking with a diet then recruit a few of your friends and co-workers and have them do the lemonade diet with you. There is strength in numbers.

The detox diet could be just the thing your looking for to help you shed those extra pounds but as with any diet be sure to get some exercise in to help condition your heart you don’t have to work out for hours to get results.Take a walk, do some gardening, hit the gym, play with the kids, make love to your spouse just get active your heart will thank you for it.
